Obec Valsov

c. 72, Valsov 792 01
Municipal office Valšov.
The first written mention of the village Valšov comes from 1377.
The village was named KRIEGSDORF in German.
The Czech name did not appear until 1622 in the form of Vojnovice, the name Valšov was first used in 1881.
Valšov has been a part of the Opava principality since the 14th century. At the time of the post-White Mountain confiscations, Valšov was annexed to the Sovinec estate, which had been owned by the Teutonic Knights since 1623. Since 1960, Valšov has belonged to the Bruntál district. Valšov has always been a purely agricultural village with mills and sawmills.
Valšov, since its inception, was not an isolated village, an important trade route passed through its axis, but only with the "age of steam" did it become an important railway station.
Valšov, after being removed from the alliance with Bruntál, as part of the municipality, became an independent municipality on November 24, 1990. For the first time in 613 years, it became a sovereign municipality that chose its own self-government, the municipal council.
The "Thanksgiving Cross" was restored in 2006 and it is now planned to restore two sacral buildings, the "Passion of the Christ" in the direction of Nová Pláň.
The village of Valšov is a member of the SLEZSKÁ HARTA MICROREGION.
