Nový Malín village.
The village of Nový Malín was called Frankšát until 1947. This name was taken from the German Frankstadt, after the founders, who were probably Franks, or from the name Frank, i.e. derived from one of them. The original settlement arose in the hills inside the forest as Mlýnská ves (Mühldorfel) and grew along the stream down to the territory of today's Malín. The first written records date from 1350. That's when Markéta from Mladče ceded her estates to the sons of Wisker from Frankštát. As early as the 13th century, copper was allegedly mined in the vicinity of the village, and later also silver, as evidenced by the shafts and tunnels in the surrounding forests. In 1398, the village was registered as a small town. In 1569 Frankštát together with other goods was sold to the town of Šumperk. and from 1583 it was listed again only as a village. Frankštát remained in the possession of Šumperk until 1848, when serfdom was abolished.
In the middle of the 19th century, industrial production began to develop in Frankenstein. Plants for the production of fireclay and clay goods were established, a brick factory was founded in 1893, the production of nails, a smaller weaving factory, a distillery and a factory for the production of wooden weaving boats, the so-called "spool box", are mentioned. The exhibition residential houses and estates were proof of the successful management of the local farmers as well.
The sports airport of the Šumperk Aeroclub, the Krásne natural swimming pool (serving the entire city and its surroundings), and an area for the establishment of a motorhome camp are located on the cadastre of the municipality. The Nový Malín village is also interesting:
- the Renaissance Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary with a cross in Nové Malín, which was remodeled in the Baroque style in 1705. In the interior you can find ceiling paintings by I. Oderlitzký from the 1st half
- 1840s, the cross is a classicist stonework from 1791 and is located in the church grounds,
- a monument from 1947 commemorating the martyrdom of the citizens of Český Malín in Volhynia in 1943,
- castle - archaeological site, finds from the period of Lusatian and Slavic culture,
- the baroque church of St. Nicholas from 1740 with a cross in Mladoňov, a settlement belonging to Nové Malín.

Thanks to its location, the village of Nový Malín is an important starting point for hiking and cycling. From its cadastre, there are already forest paths used by cyclists as access to the most beautiful parts of the Jeseníky Mountains - heading to their highest mountain, Praděd (Skřítek route - main ridge - Praděd) with minimally damaged environment so far. The village therefore has a relatively high potential for the development of tourism of regional importance.
