Mestys Protivanov

Protivanov township office.
The first written mention of the village is from
1505, when it is mentioned as property
but the date of its foundation
It falls into earlier times of the Middle Ages when
there was a great colonization wave in the country around 1290 to 1310.
The name of the village is probably related to the name of the original owner Protiva or
Protivana: it was a typical forest field village founded by a locator. From the beginning, its inhabitants earned their living by farming and woodworking, especially the production of roof shingles.
It is important for the history of Protivanov that it was a serf village of Boskovice
estate. The Boskovice lords were in charge of the region, including Protivanov, until the so-called patrimonial administration was abolished
in 1848, in some ways until the end of the First World War.
The oppressive and labor-intensive life of the subjects was to a large extent
balanced by intense religious life. Originally there were Protestants and Protestants (Unity of Brethren), after the White Mountain clearly dominated the Catholic confession, which became the dominant religion of the local people. First mention
about the Protivanov church is from 1547,
but the new parish church dates back to 1772 when Count Leopold Dietrichstein had it built.
Before the First World War, Protivanov was a village with a rich cultural and social life (for example, the local Sokol branch had been operating here since 1911, competing with the local organization of the Catholic Eagle). Before the war disaster the village also developed in terms of demographic and
economic.
20th century and its two war conflicts
determined the nature of life in Protivanov. The two war catastrophes took a toll on human life in Protivan.
Return to democratic political order
in 1989 again meant fundamental changes,
in particular by introducing a pluralistic
political system. A difficult period began also from the economic point of view, as the problems of the village, which had been neglected and not solved for a long time, were built, in which the construction of a water supply and gas supply line was paramount. Interesting activities were also started by the local library, which, in cooperation with the municipality management, seeks to commemorate important natives (JM Veselý, A. Kolísek, F. Liška and others) and cultural and social traditions.
Since 10 October 2006 it was returned to the village
status mestyse.
