Mesto Plumlov


The town of Plumlov is situated in a hilly terrain on the border of Drahanská vrchovina and Haná at an altitude of 290 to 340 m / m. It is the center of the recreational area "Plumlovská dam", located 8 km west of the district town
Prostějov and has 2, 300 permanent residents. Plumlov consists of 4 local parts (Plumlov, Soběsuky, Žárovice, Hamry).
The history of the town, whose origins date back to the end of the 13th century, is mainly connected with the dominion of aristocratic families, namely the lords of Kravaře, Pernštejn and Liechtenstein.
The first settlement originated in the castle grounds,
which was built around 1270. Sometime between 1348-1384 is Plumlov
promoted to small town. For the Lords of
Pernštejn experienced an economic boom in the town, which lasted until the end of the 16th century. In 1555 a church was built
"The Holy Trinity". In 1586, a fire burned down part of the town and in 1590 the first mention of the brewery refers
in Plumlov.
Furthermore, who significantly influenced the history of the town was the family of lords from Liechtenstein, whether they held for over three hundred years
estate, and the monumental construction of the castle above Podhradský pond. The castle was built according to the plans of Karel Eusebius of Liechtenstein by his son Jan Adam Ondřej of Liechtenstein, who is also interesting in that he bought two estates, from which the Principality of Liechtenstein was later formed.
The oldest depiction of the town's seal is known from the beginning of the 17th century, dating from 1602. Since 1697 it has been located
on the cemetery wall of the church a memorial plaque to the Swedish attack. The oldest mention of the school in Plumlov dates back to 1632.
There are 4 historical statues in Plumlov. The oldest of them is St. John of Nepomuk from 1706. The statue of St. Peter of Alcantera is undated, the statue of St. Florian is from 1749 and the statue of St. Anthony is from 1786.
In 1772, a new school was built on the square. In 1804, a windmill was relocated, which stood next to the church. In the years 1811-1814, the town produced one of the first beet sugars in Moravia. During a fire in part of the town in 1828, the school was completely destroyed and the church was severely damaged. Therefore, in 1829, a new school began to be built next to the church.
In 1849, a district court, a tax office and other necessary institutions were established, and the town of Plumlov became the seat of the judicial district and this persisted until 1949. After the abolition of the district during the territorial reorganization of Plumlov, it lost its status
township. In 1870, the name of the village was established in Plumlov.
In the years 1865-1868, the steam sawmill was abolished and a water sawmill was built. In 1896, the operation of the manorial mill was abolished. In 1898, a telegraph was established in Plumlov. The brewery and distillery ceased operations in 1900 and the power plant started operating in the former mill in 1920.
Of the cultural and publicly beneficial events, it is worth mentioning the construction of a park with a memorial to Svatopluk Čech from 1910.
In 1913 a burgher school was allowed and in 1914-1915 a new school building was built. In 1929, a tailoring school was established in Plumlov. A swimming pool in Borky has been built since 1928. In 1930, a water supply system, a cinema building were built and the state road from Prostějov was relocated.
From cultural personalities were born in Plumlov: in 1854 the writer and author of children's games Vojtěška Baldesatri
Plumlovská, in 1863 the writer Vojtěch
Vitásek, in 1872 the naive writer Václav Svoboda Plumlovský and in 1875 professor František Hýbl.
As for other activities, we can name the construction of a new cemetery in 1950 and the subsequent abolition of the old cemetery. In 1965, a caravan park "Shark" was built for 700 people. In 1967, a self-service store was built on Tyršov Square. In 1968, a water supply system was built from Kněží hora, which strengthened the existing order, which already has a capacity

In the years 1971-1973, the construction of a basic art school took place, in 1976-1977 an extension of a primary school was built, in 1976-1982 a kindergarten was built behind the health center. A new shopping center has been under construction since 1986 and was completed in 1990. A health center has been built and put into operation in 1987.
In 1989, a new store was opened in Lesnická Street, which was built in Action Z.
In the years 1993-1994, the school building of the primary school was completed. In 1994, an extension of the art branch of the basic art school was made. After taking over from
