The name of the town of Drahany is one
sources derived from a personal name
Drahan (after the foundation it was a family village
Drahanovy). According to an old legend, the owner
Drahanský Castle (Drahuše) had children
Hartman, Otto, Bohuš and Maruša. All
he divided the land, and set up their courts, and settled at the courts. The villages of Hartmanice (Niva), Bohušín (Bousín), Otinoves and Mařín were established (it disappeared after
Hussite wars).
Other sources derive the name of the village from
noun "track", that's the way
which led from Prostějov to Brno.
Near Drahan are the ruins of Drahuš Castle, otherwise Starý Plumlov.
In the Zbraslav chronicle it is called a castle
Drahanský. The Czech King Jan of Luxembourg had "Moravia" robbed knights
and conquered their castles after 1310. Among them is Drahuš.
John of Luxembourg sold Drahan in 1322
Vok z Kravař for 2, 200 hryvnia silver.
This family held the Plumlov estate, that is
and Drahany, until 1495, then belonged
Pernšetjn family, from 1590 to the Lichtensteins until 1925.
In 1384, Drahany was a small town in
the old seals had a lamb with a flag,
coat of arms of the patron saint John the Baptist.
The parish single-nave church with a circular presbytery was dedicated to this.
In 1609, Drahany fell into a village, and only in 1908 was it promoted to a town.
Drahany belonged to the parish in Určice,
then to Jedovnice. In the Thirty Years' War
were severely damaged, but again in their entirety
made of wood built. About this time
comes the "treasure" of 556 silver coins,
found in 1984 northeast
from the church while paving the sidewalk.
It flourished in the second half of the 19th century
village. A credit union was established
association with a library of 600 volumes,

The post office was established in 1868, 1905
Falcon. Annual events have been held since 1907
markets, 1909 built street lanterns.
Electrification was carried out in 1931,

New three-class one-storey building
school was built in 1895 (general
school). Citizen's school for the whole area
opened on August 24, 1930. Before the occupation it
attended by 173 pupils. In 1590
in Drahany lists 40 inhabited houses,
after the Thirty Years' War only 18 staffed,
21 desolate. Most people had the year
1900 - 1085 inhabitants. Small town development
was interrupted by the Nazi occupation 1939 -1945, when the inhabitants of Drahan had to
surrounding villages. There were many houses
damaged, several completely demolished, so after the war all the inhabitants return
they could not. They settled the village of Libin on
Sumpersk after the Germans. 11 Drahanské
citizens were imprisoned, 3 executed. After
war, the village was restored, repaired to
church, home, began to develop public
life. It was built in the following years
cinema, cultural house, ceremonial hall, shopping
center, OP workshop, school repaired.
There are two extinct settlements in the cadastre of the village,
both disappeared during the Hussite wars or
soon after them.
The village of Valdov was located in the woods
