Basnice 3, Basnice 508 01
Municipal office.
The first written mention of the existence of the settlement (formerly Bašněves), located 4 km southwest of Hořice, dates from 1318, when Vladyka Petr z Bašněvsi is mentioned. In the village there were two courtyards, one of which had a fortress; however, we do not know when and by whom it was built. At the end of the 14th century, Jan Kule from Bašněvsi held a coat of arms of a goat's head, followed by the Uzíkovs from Bašněvsi, who apparently used the same or similar coat of arms. The first report about the fortress dates back to 1499, when it was bought by Jan Krupý from Probluz from Václav and Markvart Uzík from Bašněvsi. Bašnice then became the center of a small estate, to which five other villages belonged. In 1521, it was acquired by Vojtěch from Pernštejn, who added the acquired property to his Chlumec estate. The fortress thus lost its importance as the seat of the nobility, and in 1542, when Zikmund of Smiřice bought Bašnica, it was already deserted. According to oral tradition, it stood near the bridge over Bašnický potok near the bell tower.
