Tourist destinations with a long tradition include the dominating feature of Liberec, the silhouette of a television transmitter and mountain hotel, at the very top of Ještěd Mountain on the southwest outskirts of the city. In 1969, this building was awarded the prestigious International Perret Prize.
The nearby Ještěd ski area is equipped with chair lifts, a gondola lift, a bike park is prepared for visitors in the summer season, and downhill slopes in winter. An indisputable advantage of the area is also its easy accessibility from the center of Liberec by public transport.

After a pleasant distraction in the arms of the city, the tourist can return to a region dedicated to natural beauty, as the tram leads from the foot of Ještěd to the final urban development under the first trees of the Jizera Mountains. A unique tourist area that offers versatile sports and recreational activities. An interesting feature of the Jizera Mountains is the unusually large concentration of lookout towers (eg Štěpánka, Královka or Smrk), which is unparalleled in any area of our country.
A tourist in Liberec can also take advantage of other attractive offers. Just 25 km north of the city are the borders with Germany and Poland. So there is nothing easier than going on exploring trips to our neighbors.
