Obecni urad Krystofovo UdoliKryštofovo Údolí is one of the most famous and picturesque places of Ještěd ridge. The first written mention of the village is from 1581, when it was the only mining settlement of the Lemberg estate, in which silver was mined. After World War II, most of the inhabitants were displaced and only once empty houses remained in the once prosperous village with up to 1650 inhabitants, also called Clam's Switzerland. Even in 1990 only 145 people lived here, today the village has 300 permanently and roughly the same number of residents. Since 2004, the majority of the village is a rural monument zone with a number of well-preserved timbered and half-timbered buildings, the most important is the early Baroque wooden church from 1683-1686 with unique decoration and a unique belfry. In the settlement Novina was built in the year 1900 202m long, 30m high, arch leading railway viaduct, now a technical monument of the Czech Republic. In recent years the village has once again lived with lively tourism and ceramics, and in addition to many pubs and guest houses, it is possible to visit an exhibition of folk nativity scenes, including the monumental nativity scene by Josef Jíra, exposed outdoors in winter. Since 2007 we can admire the unique movement village astronomical clock - after Prague and Olomouc the third astronomical clock in the Czech Republic.Office Hours:Monday: 08 - 11, 30 12, 30 - 16 hoursWednesday: 08 - 11, 30 12, 30 - 17 hoursVillage major:Ing.Pravoslav SvačinkaTel: (+420) 725 071 046
