The village of Františkov nad Ploučnicí can be found in the Ústí nad Labem Region southeast of the district town of Děčín. It consists of parts of Františkov nad Ploučnicí and Mlatce.
The village originated from four settlements founded in different historical periods in the valley of the river Ploučnice, the current name Františkov nad Ploučnicí was acquired in 1961. Now there live 390 inhabitants.
The village and its surroundings offer many tourist destinations. You can visit the ruins of Ostrý Castle, waterfalls or the nearby Kohout lookout tower.
The Ploučnice cycle path, which is one of the four backbone cycling routes in the Ústí Region, passes through the village. The trail has a supra-regional character and connects the Ústí nad Labem and Liberec regions.
