Vrbičany is located northwest of Slané, near the border with the Louny district, at an altitude of 284 m. It is primarily an agricultural village. The first mention of Vrbičany dates from 1318, when Lord Hynek is mentioned. Over the centuries, the owners changed, with the last holder being the important noble family of Clam-Martinic.
According to the documents, the name of the village is derived from the amount of willows and willow wicker in the area. Even today, abundant willow stands can be found in the valley from Telec to Vrbičany and to Klobuk.
