The Museum of Central Pootavy Strakonice is located in the grounds of the Strakonice Castle, which was founded by the Bavarian family from Strakonice at the confluence of the Otava and Volyňka rivers in the first quarter of the 13th century.
The museum, founded in 1894, manages permanent exhibitions in the premises of Strakonice Castle and since 2008 also the unique area of the water mill in Hoslovice.
Due to its preservation, the castle grounds are among the oldest and most extensive in Bohemia, and in 1995 the Ministry of Culture declared it a national cultural monument.
At present, the Strakonice Castle is undergoing extensive reconstruction, within which unique expositions of bagpipes and bagpipes, the history of textile production, weapons and motorcycles of the ČZ brand and the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta will be built.
Rumpál Castle Tower is a Gothic tower, which was built after 1260 during Bavaria II. Its height is 35 meters and 99 steps lead to it. The gallery connecting the tower with the castle palace is also accessible from the tower. The tower originally had two galleries above each other, but only the lower one has been preserved, which still serves as a viewing platform for visitors.
Hoslovice Water Mill - this is a unique locally preserved mill in Bohemia, a rare example of farming and grinding technology, which has been replaced in most mills by modern ones since the mid-19th century.
It consists of three buildings - a mill with a living area, barns with a shed and a barn. It also includes a pond with a drive, orchards and meadows.
According to experts, it is completely unique, especially in terms of the development of milling. The original Czech composition with one stone is preserved here, the hopper is all-wood and the grinding equipment with wooden gears is connected by wooden pins. The original accessories have also been preserved.
