The village of Čížová is located in the district of Písek, 6 km north-west of the district town, 3 km from the main road Písek-Prague. The village of Čížová consists of several surrounding ancient villages: Bošovice, Borečnice, Krašovice, Nová Ves, Zlivice, Topělec and the village of Skrýšov, which disappeared before the Thirty Years' War.

The first, but implausible, mention of Čížová is given by the chronicler Václav Hájek from Libočany in the year 942. In 1316, parish priest Mikuláš mentions Čížová, who he managed together with the church of St. Václav in Písek.

In the village you will find a post office, a primary school, and a medical facility. The village has sewerage and water supply, and is gas-fired.
