Suchdol nad Lužnicí is located in the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area in the Jindřichův Hradec District in the South Bohemian Region. It consists of six parts in five cadastral territories. These include Bor, Františkov, Hrdlořezy, Klikov, Suchdol nad Lužnicí and Tušť. The first written mention of Suchdol contains a document from 1362. At that time, the village became part of the Třeboň estate, which was owned by the Rosenbergs, who held the estate until 1611. From 2 April 1660, Suchdol is associated with the Schwarzenberg family. Currently, the city has 3, 522 inhabitants.
