The village of Plav is located in the district of České Budějovice in the South Bohemian Region. The Malše river flows through the village. Currently, approx. 418 inhabitants.

The first written mention of the village of Plav dates from 1259. Beer was brewed in Plav from the 1400s until the 16th century, and in 1571 a fire struck Plav, during which the entire village burned down except for three barns.
