Rosice, in the 15th century a vassal town, later a township, were elevated to a city by Emperor František Josef I in 1907 and were granted a coat of arms.

The dominant feature of the town is the castle on the hill, above the confluence of the Bobrava River and the Říčanské Stream. It was built by rebuilding a Gothic castle at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. century.
