The first written mention of the village of Moutnice dates back to 1298. The village has a total of 310 houses and 1120 inhabitants.
Until the second half of the 19th century, not only Rozařín, Jalovisko and Nesvačilka were added to Moutnice, as is still the case today, but also Těšany, which was twice as large at that time. In the years 1872–77, the writer P. Václav Kosmák worked at the local rectory.
The village is supplied with natural gas, has a public water supply and sewage system with a waste water treatment plant. Conveniences include local distribution of cable television and the Internet, including current information on the info channel.
The elementary and kindergarten care for children from 3 to 11 years old. The local library also provides quality services. Among the interest organizations, it is necessary to mention three that do not forget the young generation: Sportovní klub, Orel and Sbor dovolvných hačíčů.
