Authorized packaging company
The EKO-KOM system provides associated fullfilement obligations for takeback and utilization of packaging waste through systems of sorted waste collection in municipalities and through the activities of persons authorized to dispose waste.
The EKO-KOM, a.s. company does not physically deal with the packaging waste, but participates mostly in funding the costs related to collection, gathering, sorting and utilization of packaging waste
It cooperates on projects in waste management and since 1998 it has been carrying out an educational project in schools.
It draws upon the two legal obligations:
1/ Importers, fillers, distributors and retailers, placing on the market or in circulation packagings or packaged products, are, according to the Act on Packaging, obliged to takeback and utilize packaging waste.
2/ Municipalities and cities are, according to the Act on Packaging, obliged to sorte and utilize municipal waste, part of which are also used packagings.
It concludes the Contracts on associated compliance with persons who put packagings on the market or in circulation. Based on this contractual relationship it collects data on packaging production and receives payments, whose amount depends on the amount of the reported waste production.
It concludes the Contracts on providing takeback and recycling of packaging waste with municipalities and persons authorized to dispose waste. These subjects are then obliged to keep records of the amount of the packaging waste that was taken back and utilized, based on which the EKO-KOM, a.s. company financially contributes to the systems of collecting, sorting and utilizing packaging waste.

- cooperation in processing regional concepts and plans of waste management
- cooperation in applying requests for financial support from inernational funds.
GREEN POINT
The GREEN POINT mark is a trademark and only the EKO-KOM clients are entitled to use it.
If a packaging features the mark, it means that a financial contribution was made to it by the organization providing collection, sorting and utilization of packagings.
Placing the ZELENÝ BOD trademark on products distributed in the Czech Republic is allowed only with a consent of the authorized packaging company EKO-KOM, which is the rightholder in the Czech Republic.
