The Czech Statistical Office ensures the acquisition and processing of data for statistical purposes and provides statistical information to state authorities, local self-government authorities and the public.
To:
a) establishes the methodology of statistical surveys, their processing and use and the content definition of statistical indicators necessary for assessing the social, economic and ecological level of the Czech Republic and its individual parts and for assessing its development,
b) compiles a program of statistical surveys,
c) performs statistical surveys
d) compiles summary statistical characteristics of the development of the national economy and its individual sectors,
e) compiles national accounts and determines their methodology,
f) prepares analyses, or forecasts of selected characteristics of the social, economic and ecological development of the Czech Republic and its individual parts,
g) compiles statistics on the state and movement of the population and processes analyzes and forecasts of population development,
h) conducts economic surveys and surveys of the purchasing power of persons living in the same household,
i) publishes, publishes and provides statistical information, including the methodology of their detection, informs the public about the social, economic and ecological development of the Czech Republic and individual administrative units,
j) monitors compliance with obligations in the area of the state statistical service and imposes sanctions for their violation,
k) creates and manages statistical classifications, statistical codes and statistical registers and provides information from them.
CZSO further
a) collects foreign statistical information, especially for the purpose of comparing the level of social, economic and ecological development of the state with foreign countries; provides the obtained information and comparison results to state authorities and the public.
b) provides statistical information abroad and cooperates with international organizations in unifying international recommendations and standards in the field of statistics,
c) publishes the statistical yearbook of the Czech Republic
d) ensures the technical processing of election and referendum results,
e) ensures the development of new statistical methods.
The CZSO coordinates the state statistical service:
- keeps an overview of the activities carried out by the ministries in the field of the state statistical service, and works to ensure that they comply with the measures established by this law to protect individual data,
- cooperates with the ministries in the preparation of the program of statistical surveys and makes sure that there is no duplicate survey of data,
- unifies methodological procedures in the content definition of statistical indicators for statistical investigations carried out by ministries and provides them with methodological assistance in ensuring the tasks of the state statistical service.
