The village of Jeseník nad Odrou was founded in the so-called Moravian colonization in the 12th century by the Rajhrad Monastery. In
In 1169, Prince Bedřich of Olomouc donated the hitherto uninhabited territory around Hranice, including the territory of Jeseník nad Odrou, to this monastery.
The cadastre of the village is located in the southwestern part of the Poodří protected landscape area, Jeseník itself is located northwest of Nové Jičín.
Today's Jeseník nad Odrou includes a total of five villages, which gradually merged, namely in 1957 Hrabětice joined Jeseník nad Odrou, in 1975 Polouvsí and in 1976 Blahutovice and Hůrka.
