The main mining rescue station Prague was established on 1 January 2006 by transforming the Prague Mining Rescue Station.

The task of the mining rescue service is to carry out work and quick and effective interventions to save human lives and property in accidents, including providing first aid underground, coping with accidents and removing the consequences of accidents. In addition to these tasks, he also performs other activities in non-breathable or health-damaging environments and other special and risky work, e.g. work at height and above free depth (§ 4 Proclamation of the Czech Bureau of Investigation No. 447/2001 Coll.)

The main mining rescue station in Prague provides tasks according to ČBÚ Decree No. 447/2001 Coll., on mining rescue service, at workplaces where underground mining activities are carried out, if the ČBÚ takes into account the nature of the work, its riskiness and taking into account to local conditions, orders the organization of mining rescue services (§ 6, paragraph 4 of Act No. 61/1988 Coll., on mining, explosives and state mining administration). These tasks are carried out by HBZS Prague throughout the entire country.
