The Jan Liška Theater Ensemble has not been active as a civic association since 1 January 2016, but has become a part of TJ Sokol Třešť.

The ensemble has its roots as early as 1923, when local amateur theatergoers founded the Ochotnický jednota. From then on, the theater ensemble worked under various subjects and names until 2007, when the ensemble was divided into two different ensembles. The current, long-time leader of the ensemble Anna Fencikova (member of the ensemble since 1959, leader of the ensemble since 1989) decided to rename the existing ensemble after the teacher, the author of the plays and also the mayor of Sokolská jednota Jan Liška. In 2016, after 55 years, the ensemble returned to the theater boards of the newly reconstructed Sokol House (from where in 1960 the theatrical, but also the majority cultural activity in the city passed to the then newly opened cultural house), and thus earned a nickname from TJ Sokol Třešť.
DS Jan Liška at TJ Sokol Třešť has, in addition to a party of adults called TŘEŠTIDLA, also a group of young people who work very successfully under the name LIŠÁCI. At various theater shows at the regional level, the ensemble receives not only honorable mentions, but also prizes for acting and singing performances, for the stage, etc. At present, members of Jan Liška's DS value the most successful participation in the national show of Sokol theaters in Lázně Toušeň in 2017.
During its work under the new name of DS Jan Liška (since September 2007), 133 premiere programs, performances and events (of which 26 premieres of plays in many reruns) and 267 reruns took place. So far, 147 people aged from 4 to 71 have been involved in the ensemble's programs.
