The village of Horní Lideč is located in a basin at the foot of the last spur of the White Carpathians, at the foot of the southwestern spur of the Javorníky Mountains (from Pulčín) and the southern ridge of the Vizovice Hills. The northeastern part of the cadastre lies on the southernmost edge of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area.
The village is located 18 km south of Vsetín and is crossed by the road from Vsetín to Valašské Klobouky. The highest peak in the cadastre of the village is Díl (685 m.a.s.l.). The Senice river and its left-bank tributary Lačnovský potok flow through the village. The village has 1331 inhabitants.
