Obec Uhlirov

c. 55, Uhlirov 747 84
Uhlířov Municipal Office.
The first preserved written mention of the village comes from 1389, when the village was a fief of the Olomouc diocese in the so-called Křkov district.
The fate of the village was for a long time closely connected with the neighboring Slavkov. It is probable that Uhlířov originated as a settlement of Slavkov. The name of the village is most likely derived from the coal miners who produced charcoal here. In 1392, Uhlířov received a certain Herbordus Pucz from the bishop. Although the ancestral nickname of this
the first famous coal miner is not mentioned, it can be judged that he belonged to the family near Fulštejn.
The last holder of the archbiscus fief was Viktor, the free lord Sobek from Korníce.
In 1861, the first school building was built in Uhlířov. However, the school was only a branch of the Štáblovice school.
It was not until 1883 that a separate single class was officially established in the village. Her first teacher was František Miroslav Juchelka, a local awakener and important educational worker. In 1992, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the local cemetery. In 1974, the local school was abolished, and the school building was adapted for all-day operation of a kindergarten.
In 1871, the chapel of St. Anthony of Padua was built in Uhlířov.
During World War II, the chapel was completely destroyed. A new chapel is currently being built.
The oldest coal-fired association became a volunteer fire brigade founded in 1892. In 1909, the Havliček readers-amateur association was founded. In 1930, the Sokol gym unit was founded.
The events of World War II remind citizens of the monument to the fallen in the village square, which stands on the site of the former chapel.
After 1989, the appearance of the village improved significantly. The municipal office building was reconstructed, a cultural house was added and repaired, the low-voltage distribution network, telephone network and local roads were repaired, the gasification of the village was completed, the construction of a sports and children's playground, and the planting of a bio-corridor. The village was awarded new municipal symbols in 1997 and holds two ribbons - gold and white ribbons for winning the regional round of the Village of the Year competition (1996 and 2003).
Uhlířov is located about 7 km southwest of the town of Opava on the hills of a slightly undulating landscape of the Opava Uplands at an altitude of 298 m.
The cadastral area of the village is 374 ha. There are two ponds in the cadastre of the village, the so-called Přední and Zadní, which are connected by the Uhlířovský stream, which flows into the Hvozdnice River.
In the northern part of the cadastre of the village, the forests are connected to the Hvozdnice nature reserve.
The village has only a small population of 365.
Other important buildings are the fire station, the Jednota store and hospitality, and the granary.
New sewerage and wastewater treatment plant built.
The service is road transport. The village remains an agricultural village. In its cadastre, a large animal farm is focused on cattle breeding.
