Municipal office.

The village is situated on the outskirts of the Oder Hills between the cities of Ostrava and Hlucin.
The village also includes the settlement Vrablovec, whose development continues to the local part of the plain of the town of Hlučín.
The village has 4660 inhabitants, 1300 houses.
There is a post office, two primary schools, three kindergartens, two private health centers, two grocery stores, five restaurants and a number of business activities.

History of the village
The first written mention of the village is listed in a document drafted on 28.1.1303 at Landek Castle. It is written in Latin.
For centuries the village lay in the middle of the woods, its inhabitants made their living by working in the woods and in the field.
In the 19th century the inhabitants started to work in the mines and smelters in Ostrava. To this day, most people commute to work there. The village suffered considerably during the Thirty Years' War and also during the Second World War.
