Obec Supikovice

Obecní úřad Supíkovice.
The name of the village has a Slavic basis and is derived from a personal name, probably from the founder of Šupík, only after the German designation Saubsdorf. Part of the village was the settlement Lomy (until 1949 called Geislersfeld). Between 1976 and 1990, Velké Kunětice with the settlements of Františkov and Strachovičky was part of Supíkovice. The seal of the village is in the golden shield on the right a red rose with a silver seedling and green calyx leaves above the red sticks, on the left half of the Silesian eagle.
Supíkovice stretches along the road that turns in Písečná from the Jeseník - Mikulovice road northwards to Velké Kunětice. The cadastral area of 927 hectares occupies both the north-eastern slopes of the Rychlebské Mountains, known as the Sokol Ridge, and the western part of the Bělská pahorkatina not far from the Bělá River Valley. The average altitude of the village is 407 meters above sea level.
Supíkovice was mentioned as an episcopal property since the first surviving report to 1284. In the place of today's park and behind the restaurant there was a fortress similar to Jeseníky, but there are only a few rather indirect indications about their beginnings and other fates. The oldest preserved building in Supíkovice is No. 64 - this house can be found in the upper part of the village, it is the first house on the left side at the entrance to Supíkovice from Jeseník.
In 1836 there were 113 houses and 758 inhabitants in Supíkovice.
A completely new way started Supíkovice with other municipalities in the area in the second half of the 19th century. At that time, the village came to the forefront of mining and working marble, so it eventually earned the symbolic designation "Silesian Carrara". By the end of the 19th century, there were already 31 stonemason plants in this place, which was the most prevalent in the whole Frýdlant region at that time - marble quarries and granite and marble processing plants.
The Kamenický industry completely dominated the whole life of Supíkovice even though the number of employees in the individual plants was not great. In 1885 a vocational school for the marble industry was opened near the site of a former medieval fortress, which was later renamed the vocational school for stone working.
