The history of Usov is associated with the castle and the first credible report about it dates back to 1260. The town stretches at an average altitude of 280 m in the valley of the brook below the castle on a hill that rises from the former castle below a steep slope to the east. undulating plane of Mohelnice furrow. Usov chateau is visible from a wide area, including the main transport routes from Mohelnice to Zábřeh. Although the town has only a road connection with the surroundings, but on the other hand, it is accessible from Uničov and Litovel, Mohelnice and Zábřeh and moreover from the north towards Šumperk.
The largest and most important landmark of Úsov is the castle built before the mid-13th century. Under the castle stands on an elevated place in the middle of the town church. Giles. On the hill south of the town there is a Chapel of Sts. There is a valuable baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk from 1712 and in the castle you can visit the Forestry Museum. On the north-western outskirts of the town, there are several houses of the former Jewish ghetto with a 19th-century synagogue building behind them, a Jewish cemetery, one of the most important Jewish burial grounds in Moravia.
Currently, the town has 1210 inhabitants and belongs to the local district Bezděkov.
