Obecni urad Zerotin

Obecní úřad Žerotín.
The village is located in the fertile landscape of Haná plain near the city of Olomouc, its history is closely linked to the important Moravian aristocratic family Žerotínů.

The first written mention of the village comes from the chapter documents of the Bishop of Olomouc Zdík from 1131, they mention a stone fortress, which at that time belonged to the surrounding court and timbered dwellings to the church property. The old knight family of the Lords of Žerotín later owned the fortress and the surrounding land with extensive ponds until the 15th century. For the next three hundred years, Žerotín belonged to the Augustinians of the Sternberg monastery who had a summer residence with an English-style garden built on the site of the original fortress. In the 19th century. then the entire chateau complex and its extensive garden underwent an expensive reconstruction. Unfortunately, it is currently not open to the public.

Other sights of the village include the Chapel of St. Marty - patron saint of the village, which is in Žerotín dedicated every year in July traditional feast. For social gatherings and sports events there is a nice area with tennis courts and a football field. Lovers of water fun and pleasant refreshment during the summer days like to visit the local swimming pool.
