THE SURROUNDINGS OF OLŠAN IN PRETIME.

Until 1131, when the first written report about Olšany is dated, we are only referred to
evidence of archaeological findings. Countless traces of prehistoric settlement come from the track
Zlatniska and Lánský kříž.
Zlatniska has been alternately inhabited since the 5th millennium BC. and the finds on the Lánské Kríž point to settlement in a much younger period, around 1000 B.C.

The oldest monuments, documented in archaeological material, belong to the Moravian painted pottery culture from the Early Stone Age. The settlement of people with this culture was located here around 4500-4000 BC.
In the late Stone Age, 3500-2000 BC, a settlement of people with Moravian painted ceramics was followed by a settlement of people with a culture of funnel cups.
Other archaeological finds come from the period of the cord culture, the Veteřov culture and the Lusatian culture. The sequence of cultures before Christ is completed by the cultures created on our territory by the Celts.
From the turn of the 5th and 6th centuries AD traces of Slav settlement appear.
The village has 1600 inhabitants.
