The town of Pohorelice lies about 25 km south of Brno, in the Brno-venkov district in the South Moravian Region. The territory of Pohořelice includes Velký Dvůr, Smolín and Nová Ves. Currently, 4, 800 inhabitants live here.
In 2003 Pohořelice became a municipality with extended powers and the administrative district includes 12 other neighboring municipalities: Branišovice, Cvrčovice, Ivaň, Loděnice, Malešovice, Odrovice, Pasohlávky, Přibice, Vlasatice, Vranovice, Šumice and Troskotovice.
The first written mention of our city dates back to 1222, but this place was already inhabited in prehistoric times, as evidenced by preserved archaeological findings.
