Popice is a South Moravian municipality located 30 km south of Brno and 7 km from the town of Hustopeče, where there is an exit from the D2 Brno–Bratislava highway. The railway line Břeclav–Brno runs along the village.

From spring to autumn, the train stop in Popice becomes the starting point for tourists traveling to Pálava, (Děvín Castle) or to the Novomlýn reservoirs.
There are many cycling trails in the vicinity of the village.

Popický stream flows through the village, which originates 3 km northwest above the village and flows into the lower Novomlýnská reservoir. To the north of the village rise the elongated slopes of the Hustopečská uplands, on which wine routes have been valued since the Middle Ages. This typical lowland South Moravian village has a surprisingly undulating cadastre, the lowest point is 175 m above sea level and the highest at 308 m above sea level.
