The first written mention of the village comes from 1384.
Cultural life in the village:
-2 dulcimer music by Jožka Severin and Důbrava, male choir and female choir
-socal library with 300 readers
-the preservation of the traditions of Podluží, Slovak folk costumes and songs, is also taken care of by Slovácký krůžek, the local chasa and the newly founded children's folklore ensemble Kostičánek
-The main socio-cultural event is the Kostice Feast, held annually in mid-October.
