The town of Chvaletice is located 25 km from Pardubice on the border of the Chvaletice uplands of the Železné hory complex (Czech-Moravian system) and the Pardubice basin of the Východolabská tabulka unit (Česká panel system) at an altitude of 210 to 310 m above sea level.
Chvaletice first appears in written reports in 1393, when the court with a fortress near the village was the property of Hereš of Chvaletice, and in 1407 Myslibor.
