The town of Jičín is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Bohemian Paradise in the Hradec Králové Region. The city consists of 11 local parts in 4 cadastral areas and is located in the Jičín Hills on the river Cidlina at an altitude of 287 m. Currently there live 16, 300 inhabitants. There are many historical monuments to see, including a city monument reserve. Jičín became known to people mainly thanks to the fairy tale About the Robber Rumcajs, written by Václav Čtvrtek.
Historical sources prove that it was founded as a royal city before 1300 and the first written mention dates from 1293.
