The village of Skalice u České Lípy is located 1 km southwest of Nový Bor, 7 km north of Česká Lípa. The village lies in a valley below Skalický vrch (Český kopec) and Chotovický vrch along the Sporka and Okrouhlický streams. Skalický vrch is a very interesting natural monument. During the last 2 centuries, sandstone mining took place here, creating an underground labyrinth with many halls. Today, the area is a registered "European Site" for the occurrence and hibernation of bats. This locality is also visited, among others, by filmmakers who make fairy-tale films (scenes in caves). At the top there used to be a small mountain inn, the foundations of which can be found here to this day. Several cycle routes pass through Skalica.

In the village there is a kindergarten and a nine-year primary school, post office, municipal library, football and multifunctional playground. The Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Sports Club (football and skittles), the Shooting Club, the Fishing Association, the Cycling Association, the Fallow Deer and Deer Game Reserve operate here.

The first historical mention of Skalica dates from 1226. The village lies on the old country road from Bohemia to Lusatia. It also had an impact on the development of international trade, especially the export of glass from the Lusatian Mountains. The inhabitants of that time subsisted mainly on agriculture, and from the 16th century the glass industry developed here.

An important historical monument is the Church of St. Anny. The original church of the same name, which has not been preserved, dates from 1362. Today's church was built in the Baroque style and inside there are paintings from the cycle of the Stations of the Cross by Josef Müler, a painter from Skalica. We can also see the rectory building, the sculptural group of St. Jan Nepomucký, a memorial to the victims of the First World War, the Passion of the Christ and a number of chapels and crosses. There are also many buildings on site, representing the folk architecture of the region. The well-known portrait painter Josef Beckel (1806-1865) comes from Skalica.

The municipal office is located at Skalice u České Lípy 377.
