The village of Soběslavice is located on the southeastern edge of the Liberec district in the relatively densely populated surroundings of Pěnčínsk. It regained its independence on September 1, 1990, when it separated from Pěnčín, which it had been a part of since 1980. The village is a member of the Nisa Euroregion and the Jizera microregion.
The origin of the village cannot be determined exactly, but according to an old legend, the village was founded by Prince Soběslav, who, after losing his throne at the beginning of the 11th century, took refuge in the local landscape and built his strong castle in the place where house No. 9 stands.
Around 1109, the western side of the gorge was settled, from the second half of the 14th century. and the eastern side. There were wooden houses covered with thatch and shingles.
The village of Stráňov belongs to the village of Soběslavice, which got its name from one of the leaders of the orphans and Taborites who hid in this area after the lost battle at Lipan in 1434. At a place called the Golden Table stood the sacrificial tent of the orphans.
The settlements of Padařavice, Klůčky and Kordovka also belong to the village of Soběslavice, they used to be part of the Svijan estate. They got their name from the priest Padařov, whom Vlastibor had with him and who lived in the local forests around 1120 as a hermit.
