Raspenava is located in the Frydlant promontory in the Liberec district. It is located in the Frýdlant Upland, forming the northwest foothills of the Jizera Mountains, approximately 3 to 6 km southeast of Frýdlant. The exact date of the establishment of the village is unknown, but the first mention of it is from 1343. At present, Raspenava has 2 851 permanent residents.
