Research Institute for Brown Coal a.s.
Research Institute for Brown Coal a.s. was founded in Most in 1953 as a special - purpose organization of mines in the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin for solving complex issues of development, especially quarrying of brown coal.
As of May 1, 1992, the institute was registered in the Commercial Register as a joint-stock company.
The main shareholders are the two most important brown coal companies - Vršanská uhelná, a.s. (44, 580%) and Severočeské doly, a.s. Chomutov (44.582%).
In addition to activities related to the support of quarrying, the company's activities also focus on solving new, ecological methods of coal treatment and use, including the use of lignite combustion and desulphurisation products, and on protecting and creating the working and environmental basin districts of the North Bohemian region. .

Within geotechnics and engineering geology, a significant part of the activity is the solution of stable problems on slopes (especially quarries and dumps) as well as in rock notches and outcrops. The specialists of the Geotechnics and Hydrogeology Department provide a comprehensive solution to this issue, from engineering geological survey, through stable analyzes, design of geotechnical support to the implementation project of remediation works.

Authorized person and Certification body
The subject of activity is conformity assessment and certification of specified and non-specified products from combustion and desulphurisation products, technological equipment of quarries for surface mining and mining equipment of floating machines.
The main activity of the Authorized Person 242 is focused on the certification of selected commodities of construction products from technologically modified products after coal combustion and products from variant desulphurisation processes of energy and heating sources in the Czech Republic.
Equally important in the field of state testing is the activity of the Certification Body No. 3066. The status of the certification body was VÚHU a.s. awarded in 1999 by the Czech Institute for Accreditation, o.p.s. upon successful completion of proficiency checks. In 2014, the Certification Body No. 3066 applied the requirements of ČSN EN ISO / IEC 17065 Conformity Assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services to its system and was also successfully accredited according to this standard.

The Technological Processes and Diagnostics Department carries out the processing of documentation for zoning decisions and building permits, the processing of feasibility studies, the processing of project and operational documentation. It also performs construction engineering, supply of technological units, consulting and advisory activities. He has been dealing with this issue for many years and has specialists in the field and the most modern measuring technology. In its activities, it also proposes technical solutions aimed at reducing dust, including the subsequent implementation of dedusting.

Accredited testing laboratory
The testing laboratory is accredited by the Czech Institute for Accreditation, o.p.s. according to the standard ČSN EN ISO / IEC 17025 since 1994. Accredited activities are organizationally divided according to the nature of performed tests and analyzed materials into individual sub-laboratories, which actively participate in the solution of a number of research projects. The comprehensive analytical center is able to offer a wide range of analyzes, tests and measurements.
