The village of Kolešov is located in the Central Bohemian Region, about 13 km from Rakovník and 11 km from Podbořany. At present, the village is associated with the surrounding villages in the Kněževes microregion.
In the vicinity of the village there is a picturesque Central Bohemian nature and more than three quarters of the total cadastral area consists of fields.
The first surviving written mention of the village dates from 1319.
