Obec Statenice

Statenicka 23, Statenice 252 62
The village of Statenice is located approx. 10 km northwest of Prague in the valley of the Únětické stream. The village of Černý Vůl is also part of the village. South-east of the village lies the Šárka-Lysolaje Nature Park, which is suitable for hiking and cycling.

The first written mention of the village dates from 1227, when it is mentioned in the inventory of property, confirmed by King Přemysl Otakar I to the St. George's Monastery at Prague Castle; due to the leading position of the village in the aforementioned document, it can be speculated that Statenice belonged to the monastery since its foundation in 973.

The current number of inhabitants in the village is 1, 394.
The J.M. Hovorka Library is located here – the Village Living Room.

Statenice belongs to the members of the Voluntary Association of Municipalities of Přemyslovské Central Bohemia, which aims at the overall development of the region.

In the center of the village stands a Renaissance castle, a four-winged storey building from the second half of the 18th century. In both parts of the village, there are monuments to those who died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars, at which commemorative events are regularly held. The sights also include the vast memorial meadows spread around the village.
