Lety is located 5 km north of Čimelice in the Písek district. The village consists of three parts lying in two cadastral territories, Lety, Pukňov and Šerkov. 268 people live here at the moment.
The first written reports about settlements in the region appear after 1000, but on separate years after 1300. The name of the village probably originated from the personal name of its founder, who was named as one of the seasons Summer.

A criminal labor camp, later a concentration camp, was established on the outskirts of the village during World War II. At present there is a memorial to the victims of the camp and a pious place was built.
Lety is a member of the Voluntary Union of Municipalities of Northern Písek. Cultural and social events are held here regularly.
