Gymnázium Písek is a school with more than two hundred years old tradition. It was opened on November 9, 1778. The main mission of the school and grammar schools in general is to prepare students for university studies.
The course includes foreign exchange trips and study stays in Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany. In the last two years of study in all fields, students can choose from a wide range of compulsory elective courses (seminars) according to their interest and focus of future university studies.
Fields of study:
Grammar school (four-year, general) - 2 classes open for 30 pupils - applications are submitted from the 9th grade of elementary school - provides a classic general education, focused primarily on preparation for university studies.
Grammar school (six-year-old, "with extended teaching of the French language") - 1 class opens with 30 pupils - applications are submitted from the 7th grade of elementary school. Selected subjects are taught here in French - French teachers (native speakers) work at the school.
Grammar school (eight-year-old, general) - 1 class opens with 30 pupils - applications are submitted from the 5th grade of elementary school - intended for talented pupils from the fifth grade of primary schools. The focus of the study is similar to that of a four-year grammar school.
