The village of Nová Pec is a lumbering settlement and is located in the district of Prachatice in the South Bohemian Region. Nová Pec lies on both banks of the Vltava, resp. Lipno reservoir. The village dates back to the middle of the seventeenth century. Permission to build the village was given by Johan Christian, Duke of Krumlov and Prince of Eggenberg. This authorization was incorporated into a resolution of November 15, 1689.

Transport in Nová Pec is provided by both bus and train transport.

Preschool children have a kindergarten and those who have a primary school at their disposal, which they can attend until the fourth grade. Higher grades then move to Volar and Horní Planá.

Sports activities are represented mainly by hiking and biking in the irresistible and unique places of the National Park.

The village devotes many activities to promoting tourism. Various events are organized that are connected with the past life of our ancestors in the locality. The most famous event is probably the demonstration of floating wood on the Schwarzenberg canal.
