The Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine, v. V. I. Deals with the research of all types of livestock, with emphasis on the issue of health control of cattle, pigs and poultry. However, attention is also paid to other species of animals. We are the only professional research institute in the Czech Republic focused on research in the field of veterinary medicine with a significant share of applied research. Great emphasis is placed on cooperation with industrial and innovative companies in order to ensure the transfer of the results of professional and scientific activities into practice. The professional focus is given mainly by the profiling of individual departments of the institute. The greatest potential of the institution is the use of experimental stables with laboratory facilities using the knowledge and experience of the institution's staff.
Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine - department:
- infectious diseases and preventive medicine

The institute has accredited user facilities for research on livestock and laboratory animals. Researchers have the opportunity to perform experiments in a laboratory with the 3rd degree of biosafety, which is almost the highest level of technical support for working with high-risk microorganisms. We also maintain a collection of pathogenic microorganisms with almost 600 strains of viruses and more than 1300 strains of bacteria. You can find us at Hudcova 296/70, Brno.
