The village is situated at the foot of the castle Rýzmberka, about halfway between Domažlice and Kdyně. In the written sources we meet Kout only in 1544. At the end of the 16th century the village was acquired by the owner of the Rýzmberk Castle. After the Thirty Years' War, in which the strong castle becomes a ruin, the administrative center of the Ryzmbers manor becomes Kout. As a result of these changes, there is a rapid development of not yet significant village. To the Renaissance mansion gradually added farm buildings manor, granaries, mills, wine, brewery, chapel gradually rebuilt into a church and then a manor house with a park situated on the outskirts of the village.
Many of these buildings have been preserved to this day. On the square there is a Renaissance fortress marked by numerous modifications, which is adjoined by a new extension, which houses the municipal office. The Church of Sts. George, which is curiously built on the brewery cellars. The old brewery deserves mention of industrial buildings. Surrounded by a park, the chateau is now used as a recreational facility and a school in nature. Above the western edge of the village rises a low ridge with a gloriette called Hat, from which open views of the village, which is due to its valuable monuments declared a monument zone.
