The village of Dolany nad Vltavou is located in the district of Mělník in the Central Bohemian region, on the left bank of the Vltava river approximately 3 km southeast of Kralupe nad Vltavou. The village also includes the village of Debrno, which lies less than 2 kilometers southwest in the parallel valley of Turské potok. Currently, approx. 940 inhabitants.
The first written mention of the village dates back to 1318.
In the village there is a Primary School, TJ Sokol Dolany nad Vltavou, Kennel Club Dolany, Civic Association For Life in Dolany, Hunting Association, Fishing Association, Appaloosa Ranch Kocanda Association, which works with children and develops their relationship with horses and nature.
The village is electrified, there is a sewage treatment plant and a public water supply.
On the Vltava, in front of the village at the point where the river diverges, there is the Dolany lock with a power plant; the Dolanky lock on the opposite shore also belongs for the most part to the cadastral territory of Dolan.
