The village of Krakovany lies on the border of the Iron Mountains and the Elbe lowlands in the Kolín district in the Central Bohemian Region. Krakovany has an area of 1, 054 ha and lies at an altitude of 226 m above sea level. The village also includes the village of Božec. The first written mention of the village dates from 1244. At present, Krakovany has approximately 800 permanent residents.
