Municipal office in Kunčice pod Ondřejník.
The village lies between the Frenštát and Frýdlant basins, between the mountains Ondřejník, Radhoště and Kněhyní, in a mountain valley mainly at the foot of Ondřejník, it is approximately 9 km long,
it has an area of 21 km2.
The first mention of Kunčice dates from 1281-1302. According to unsubstantiated reports, it was ordered by the Bishop of Olomouc
Dětřich was founded by an official of the Hukvald estate Kunz, after whom it was named Kunzendorf. Since 1848 the Great
Kunčice, because already in 1830 it had 1, 380 inhabitants, i.e. more than Moravská Ostrava. Already 100 years after the foundation of the village
a glass factory was established, iron ore was mined in the second half of the 19th century.
A valuable cultural monument is a wooden church from the 18th century, brought to the village in 1931 from Subcarpathian Rus.
In the primary school building there is a unique school Gallery of Karel Svolinský with a collection of valuable art works
artists from all over the country.
In 1993, the President of the Republic Václav Havel also visited the gallery.
Kunčice pod Ondřejník is a well-known recreation area in Ostrava.
The village is an ideal starting point for hiking trips to the Beskydy Mountains, to nearby towns and villages.
In winter, there are excellent conditions for ski touring.
