Statutory city of Ostrava City district Plesná.
Plesná is one of the 23 districts of the city of Ostrava. It is located about 15 km (6mi) from the downtown area.
It is a peripheral part of the city and therefore adjacent not only to the city districts such as Martinov, Pustkovec, Poruba and Krasne Pole, but also to villages namely Dhylov, Dobroslavice and Velka Polom.
The cadastre of our municipality is composed of two cadastral territories:
- Stará Plesná - area 427 ha
- Nová Plesná - area of 60 ha.
The total area of Plesná is 487 ha.
Although Plesná is not a large village, it is situated on picturesque hills with a dominant of a beautiful Baroque church attracting the attention of many people, in addition to its very clean air.
It is growing and much has also been achieved in recent years.
Therefore, we must increasingly strive to make Plesná more interesting, more beautiful and attractive.
What has changed, built, repaired - we all see:
- we walk around a beautiful kindergarten, office buildings, we have a modified cemetery, sidewalks are repaired, life is made more comfortable by gasification, complicated and expensive sewerage is planned, the center of the village has been modified
- hypermarket GLOBUS was built in the cadastre of Plesná and the construction of a shopping center is being prepared.
Plesná is also known thanks to Májová Plesná, where several hundreds of folklore lovers come year after year, thanks to the Plesná Trail, where cycling enthusiasts measure their strength every year. But it also makes its firefighters well known with its fire brigade. Last but not least, the House of Children attracts attention to Plesná with its activities.
Sights Plesné - cultural monuments of our village include:
- a church with four chapels and a wall
- Chapel (former tomb) in the school garden.
This building is complemented by a cemetery located on the hillside behind the church.
Furthermore, the cultural monuments include a memorial to the victims of I. and II. World War II, Red Army monument and memorial plaque interbrigadist Karel Svoboda.
