The village of Hať is located in the northeastern part of the Opava district in the border area with Poland, in the mild valley of the Bečva stream, in the typically agricultural landscape of the fields of the Hlučín Hills.
2, 600 inhabitants live here, and the length of the village in the built-up part is about 4 km. The area of the Hatá cadastre is 1, 570 ha.
In historical sources, the village is mentioned for the first time in 1250 as the property of the Velehrad monastery. A historical turning point in the life of the village was the events of the middle of the 18th century, when after the lost war in 1742, Maria Theresa ceded part of Silesia to Prussia and the village became part of it. The village was annexed to the Czechoslovak Republic on 16 March 1923.
The dominant feature of the village is the church of St. Matthew. It is a baroque one-nave building from 1731, rebuilt in 1894. It has original interior fittings, the main altar and the side altars of St. Barbara and St. John of Nepomuck comes from the 19th century. A bell from 1504 hangs in the tower.
Communications leading through the former border crossings Hať – Rudyszwald and Hať – Tworkow connect Hať with the neighboring municipalities of the Polish Gmina Krzyzanowice. The international cycling trail No. 5 Moravská brána ends at the former border crossing Hať – Tworkow. It is followed by a dense network of cycling routes connecting all the villages of Hlučínsk. Well-marked hiking and cycling routes allow hiking and cycling in a nice environment and terrain for undemanding hikers and families.
Among the attractions we can include the water reservoir just behind the village in the direction of Vřesina and the state nature reserve Dařanec, which is located on the yellow-marked trail in the direction of Závada in the Hubert forest. In the direction of Hlučín at the exit from the Štípky forest, there is a unique military open-air museum consisting of concrete blockhouses with equipment authentic to 1938, which were built as part of the pre-war Czechoslovak border fortifications, and this Area of the Czechoslovak the fortification is a European valued technical and construction monument.
Important cultural events of a regional nature include the annual Haťské dožinky and the KOLAJA folklore festival.
