The village of Dětřichov nad Bystřicí is located in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Bruntál District.

The first written mention of the village dates from 1317. The history of the village dates back to approximately 1317–1318 as a feudal village under the administration of Bishop Bruno of Schauenburg, Olomouc, advisor to the Czech King Přemysl Otakar II. Before 1410, Dětřichov belonged to the Sternberg estate until the abolition of the lordship in the middle of the 19th century.

At present, the village has an area of 2, 831 ha and 418 inhabitants live here. The village also includes a small village Krahulčí.

From the municipal facilities there is a primary and kindergarten, a cultural house, a restaurant and also a post office, a health center and a football field with an inn.

Dětřichov is located in the northern part of the Bystřice Nature Park. The wooded slopes of the Low Jeseníky Mountains rise in the vicinity. In the north-eastern direction, the highest peak of the Low Jeseník, Slunečná, rises above the village. To the east of Dětřichov is the Panské louky nature reserve. Not far from the settlement of Krahulčí, in the north-western direction, is the Mokřiny u Krahulčí nature reserve.
